Welcome to our web site

London Irish Literary Travel offer tours of Paris based on 'The Paris of Joyce and Beckett: A Tourist Guide'. This guide provides five imaginary scenarios following in the footsteps of Joyce and Beckett. What better way to explore Paris in Beckett’s centenary year.

We also offer guided literary tours in London to places associated with G B Shaw, Christina Rossetti, Virginia Woolf , Oscar Wilde, Sean O'Casey, Sean O'Faolain, Edmond Malone, George Orwell and of course Samuel Beckett. Tours can be arranged by appointment, simply email us to discuss your requirements.

Irish writers such as Wilde, Joyce and Beckett have always been drawn to Paris which has proved a fertile ground for their creativity. Joyce arrived in 1920 and settled there with his family. In 1928 Beckett became lecteur d’anglais at the Ecole Normale Superieure and went on to work closely with Joyce as his amanuensis. By 1948 Beckett had decided to follow his own literary path and began writing his best known work ‘Waiting for Godot’.

The guide provides detailed itineraries with approximate walking times and makes a useful and entertaining companion for visitors to Paris who wish to explore beyond the usual tourist attractions. We hope that you will be inspired to learn more about these two Irish writers who in their different ways had such an influence on twentieth century literature.
